WEAPONS TRAINING
You’ll learn to wield two legendary Korean weapons — no experience required. Jeff Colangelo will be teaching Korean-inspired sword basics and weapons choreography, as well as how to use them to create awesome fight scene!
About the Sword:
The Saingeom (사인검)—also known as the Four Tiger Sword, Four or Exorcist Sword—is a rare, straight-bladed Korean weapon steeped in symbolism and spirituality. Most closely tied to the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897), it served primarily as a ceremonial tool rather than a battlefield weapon, wielded by royalty and high-ranking officials to ward off evil spirits.
Forged only during the Year of the Tiger, its creation followed a ritualistic process. The sword gained prominence when Yi Seong-gye, founder of Joseon and later King Taejo, used it—on the advice of a revered monk—to counter the dragon imagery of the preceding Goryeo kings, symbolically replacing dragon energy with tiger energy to assert the new dynasty’s legitimacy and spiritual authority.
